Perspective · Engineering

We engineer the data and systems your AI runs on

We build the pipelines, integrations and models that make your data usable for AI, and we decide with you which systems to keep, connect or retire. What we build runs in production, and your team can run it after we leave.

The argument

Most programmes fail in the engineering.

A schema changes, a pipeline cannot re-run, a workaround becomes permanent.

We find these problems and fix them, and we build new work so they do not come back: every pipeline tested, monitored and able to re-run.

  1. Why AI goals are missed

    • The data was not ready: nobody had sourced, joined and checked it for the job
    • The teams could not work with the AI tools they were given, so the tools went unused
    • The wrong model for the task: for forecasting, optimisation and risk, purpose-built models still beat a language model doing the arithmetic
  2. Keep, connect or retire each system

    • The lakehouse, the warehouse, the ERPs and the legacy systems are separate, each judged on its own case
    • Whatever stays, the processes and systems around it are re-engineered to fit how AI will work in them
    • Retiring a system is planned, so nothing the business relies on stops working
  3. Engineering toward the value you measure

    • For some businesses value is a lower running cost: fewer systems, less to maintain
    • For others it is speed: decisions made sooner, on figures people trust
    • For others it is less risk: one agreed definition, controlled access and an audit trail
    • We agree which one matters at the start, and design the engineering to move that number
  4. Secure, and ready for the next change in AI

    • Access control and an audit trail built in from the start, across every system and every agent
    • AI models and the infrastructure under them change every few months; each can be swapped without a rebuild
    • Sovereign where it has to be: models and data kept in your own cloud or on your own servers, inside your perimeter

THE CRAFT

The systems under the application

What deep engineering means in practice

  1. Built for production from the first week

Every pipeline can be re-run and backfilled, is monitored, and has a defined procedure for when it fails. These are designed in at the start.

  2. Data engineered like code

Contracts, tests, lineage and versioning for the data itself. Ontology definitions and quality checks live in version control, reviewed and reversible.

  3. Models that run in production

Forecasting, optimisation and risk models are deployed as governed properties and actions on the ontology, and monitored like any other software.

  4. Keep, connect or retire

Each system is judged on what it costs and what it is used for: keep it, connect it to the ontology, or retire it.

  5. Built for the people who use it

Fast, readable, and clear about the quality of its own data. The measure is whether the operators who depend on it can rely on it every day.

  6. Engineered to be inherited

Runbooks, paired delivery and exit criteria agreed up front, so your engineers can own, operate and extend the system after we leave.

How we help

Depth across the ecosystem

We embed senior-led engineering and data science teams: deepest on Foundry and AIP, hands-on across the ecosystem around them. And where a system doesn’t need replacing, we say so.

Lakehouse and warehouse engineering, ERP integrations and legacy migrations, each planned around the result the business needs

Whoever writes the keep, connect or retire case builds the migration

Agreeing what the data means is a separate job: the ontology.

Put one team on your hardest problems

Bring us the pipeline that cannot be re-run, the warehouse no one will make a decision on, or the AI use case that is not yet trusted.
