Forward-Deployed Data Engineer, United States

A build role for engineers with a year or more of experience across the data ecosystem: lakehouse, warehouse, cloud and the pipelines between them, working alongside senior engineers in the client’s team. Foundry experience is much preferred, not required.

About Ainur Insights

Ainur Insights builds on Palantir Foundry and AIP for large organisations: one model of the business across the systems they already run, with workflows, agents and decisions in production, handed over to the client’s own team.

Role overview

We’re looking for a data engineer in the United States with a year or more of experience to build and deploy data solutions directly with clients, on the platforms they already run: cloud warehouses and lakehouses, streaming, transformation frameworks and the applications on top. You’ll work alongside senior engineers who lead the design, and own real parts of the build. Palantir Foundry experience is much preferred; if you have built on other platforms and want to learn it, we teach it. As a Forward-Deployed Engineer, you’ll embed with client teams and work on their hardest problems on their own estate. Rather than building one feature for many customers, you’ll deliver many capabilities for each client.

Key responsibilities

Client engagement & solution design

  • Work with clients to understand their data needs and business goals
  • Contribute to the technical design and delivery of use cases on the client’s platforms, with a senior engineer leading
  • Help assess data strategy and governance and spot improvements across the client’s data ecosystem
  • Evaluate technical feasibility with product owners and design teams

Data engineering & pipeline development

  • Design, build and maintain scalable pipelines on cloud warehouses and lakehouses such as Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery and Redshift
  • Build and optimise ETL/ELT with Spark, dbt and orchestration tools such as Airflow
  • Integrate data from ERP, CRM, spreadsheets, APIs and streaming sources
  • Bring the data into one model of the business, on Foundry where the client runs it

Platform & application development

  • Build applications and workflows with Python and TypeScript
  • Help design data models, ontologies and the APIs that serve them
  • On Foundry, work with Pipeline Builder, ontology objects, functions, actions and AIP
  • Develop write-back to the systems of record

AI & advanced analytics

  • Build generative and agentic AI features with senior engineers, on the client’s platform and with AIP where that platform is Foundry
  • Handle real-time processing, including event handling, correlation and streaming analytics
  • Integrate machine learning models into operational analytics

Data governance & security

  • Implement data protection policies, access controls and row-level security
  • Follow data foundation and governance best practices
  • Maintain data quality, security and regulatory compliance

Required qualifications

Experience & education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field
  • 1+ years as a data engineer, analytics engineer or in a related software role; internships and substantial personal projects count
  • Hands-on data integration and ETL/ELT experience, in production or in substantial projects
  • Authorisation to work in the United States

Technical skills

  • Required: solid Python and/or TypeScript
  • Required: strong SQL and the basics of data modelling
  • Required: hands-on experience with at least one major cloud data platform (Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery or Redshift) on AWS, Azure or GCP
  • Exposure to Apache Spark or PySpark
  • Exposure to dbt, Airflow or similar transformation and orchestration tools
  • Any streaming experience (Kafka or a cloud equivalent) is a plus
  • Git-based repositories and CI/CD

Professional skills

  • Strong problem-solving with complex data structures
  • Clear communication with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Works well in fast-paced agile teams and asks for help early
  • Comfortable working directly with clients
  • Fluent English; other languages are a plus

Much preferred

  • Hands-on Palantir Foundry experience, including Pipeline Builder, the ontology and AIP; we sponsor certification for engineers who join without it
  • Foundry certification (Foundry Developer or Foundry Data Engineer)
  • Experience with other Palantir platforms
  • Work in regulated sectors such as insurance, finance, utilities, energy or government
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps and software lifecycle practices

What we offer

Compensation

  • Competitive salary
  • Performance bonuses and equity opportunities
  • Health insurance, 401(k) matching and statutory benefits

Professional development

  • Sponsored Palantir certifications
  • Learning budget for conferences and training
  • Mentorship and clear career progression
  • Work on live client projects from the start

Work-life balance

  • Flexible remote work with hybrid office options
  • Paid time off plus public holidays
  • Employee assistance and wellness programmes
  • A small team that works closely together

Learning & growth

You start building on live client projects alongside senior engineers, with sponsored Foundry certification along the way. As your skills grow, you take on more of the design and the client work, with a clear route to the experienced forward-deployed role.

Why join Ainur Insights?

We work on Foundry and the data ecosystem around it, directly with clients. You’ll build on the platforms clients already run, learn Foundry from engineers who have led large programmes, and gain experience across varied projects and industries in the United States.
